GeneratER: EOI Guidelines

Context

    • For the first round of GeneratER, NERA is partnering with the WA Government and Industry to facilitate an open innovation program for the energy resources supply chain.
    • GeneratER is aimed at growing the economic diversification and sustainability of the energy resources supply chain by supporting challenge owners to identify local companies with the ability to address a challenge or opportunity in their operations.
    • Successful SMEs will receive support to pilot their solution with Challenge Owners.

    Pilot Funding

    • NERA will provide up to $50,000 to successful applicants to help plan, prepare for and execute each pilot. These funds are for documented expenses incurred in delivering the pilot.
    • If more than one SME is selected to undertake a pilot, the funding will be shared between them.
    • All SMEs undertaking a funded pilot will be required to enter into a funding agreement with NERA.

Who is eligible to submit an EOI?

    • Round 1 of GeneratER is open to any WA-based SME with a potential solution to the advertised challenge.
    • Businesses must hold an active Australian Business Number (ABN).
    • Businesses must have premises and employees in Western Australia.
    • For the purposes of this program, an SME is a business entity with a turnover of less than $10 million and fewer than 100 employees.

        EOI Online Form

        • All applicants must complete the online EOI form to be considered.
        • The form has mandatory fields and word limits, so please ensure you describe your application clearly and succinctly.

        The Challenge Process

        • Information about the Challenge Process can be found here.

        Intellectual Property (IP)

        • NERA does not claim ownership of any of the IP created by pilot participants or Challenge Owners during the pilot.
        • IP ownership will be a matter for negotiation on a case-by-case basis between the parties to the agreement governing the pilot. There is no expectation that any IP rights will be relinquished during the EOI/pilot process.

        Obligations to Challenge Owner

        • There is no obligation for the Challenge Owner to engage the solution provider/s following the completion of the pilot.
