In September, NERA brought together oil and gas industry representatives, SME technology companies, energy resource sector start-ups and research organisation representatives to identify the near, medium and long term operations and maintenance opportunities to reduce costs and improve the overall international competitiveness of Australia’s oil and gas industry. Forum participants identified potential project areas for NERA which will be pursued through an expressions of interest process. The forum outcomes can be found below.
Earlier in 2016, NERA commissioned Accenture to undertake an Oil & Gas Industry Competitive Assessment. This study highlighted where Australian industry lags behind international best practice and estimated an additional $5 billion in additional value could be realised by industry across four domain areas which underpinned the assessment: supply chain, research and innovation, workforce skills and regulatory reform. This analysis was launched at the forum.
