NERA announces Chironix as CORE Start Award winner

NERA has celebrated the CORE Innovation Hub’s second birthday with the announcement of Perth-based technology company Chironix as the winner of the second CORE Start Award.

From funding and support provided by NERA, the CORE Start Award provides promising resources tech start-ups with three months of co-working at CORE coupled with facilitated industry connections and support to grow their business. Awardees remain connected as CORE Start Alumni for ongoing opportunities.

In addition, the CORE Start recipient will receive tailored support from CORE and NERA to grow their business. This support may be in the form of introductions to business networks, access to workshops and business advice, profiling and promoting of the company.

Announcing the award at CORE on Thursday 23 August 2018, CEO Miranda Taylor said Chironix was a worthy winner and has an exciting future in the energy resources sector.

“Chironix represents exactly the type of company we love supporting – dynamic, developers of cutting-edge technology and keen to drive world-class innovation right here in Australia for the benefit of our industries,” Ms Taylor said.

“CORE provides a unique co-working space and an incubator of ideas for the resources and energy sector. Connecting, collaborating and transferring knowledge and skills are part of the building blocks of CORE which is why NERA has been such a passionate supporter. CORE supports innovators to design, develop, commercialise and scale technology and services.”

Chironix works across Robotics, Machine Learning, Data Engineering and Cloud. They apply robotics capability to industry, integrating sensors and other technical solutions to highly mobile robots to solve client problems. Chironix co-creates with their clients from idea inception through to procurement, and on the implementation of these solutions through a series of trials and workplace integrations.

Daniel Milford, Managing Director of Chironix, said the CORE Start Award would be a major boost for the company.

“This award will enable us to locate in the heart of Perth’s CBD innovation community, and importantly to be within reach of our core client base on a daily basis,” Mr Milford said.

As a foundation sponsor of CORE and the CORE Start Award, NERA has been a key supporter of the collaborative working space and of this award that offers energy resources start-ups with valuable support to access the networking facilities.

Earlier this year, NERA announced fellow Perth-based technology and smart sensor developer Flicq as the inaugural winner of the CORE Start Award. Through their co-working experience at CORE, Flicq has developed new connections and networks, and achieved that first essential ‘big break’. As a result, Flicq have decided to stay on as part of theCORE community.
