NERA CEO Miranda Taylor has underlined the critical nature of collaboration amongst Australia’s energy resources community in a key note address to industry leaders and Australia’s research community at the Collaborate I Innovate 2018 Conference.

Ms Taylor joined Assistant Minister for Science, Jobs and Innovation Senator Zed Seselja, Deputy Opposition Leader Tanya Plibersek and industry peers at the annual conference, this year held in Sydney.

Collaborate Innovate brings together researchers, educators and industry experts to network and share valuable insights regarding the nature of cooperative research ventures.

In 2018, the Collaborate | Innovate Conference explored the importance of business and industry working with researchers to create innovation and ways to foster these relationships.

Ms Taylor’s presentation, “Collaborating to strengthen Australia’s energy future” focused on the need to grow and support the country’s collaboration ecosystem by recognising the convergent strengths, talents and opportunities of different entities whether they are Cooperative Research Centres, Industry Growth Centres, research institutions, small businesses or established industry operators.

Ms Taylor, who represented NERA and the Industry Growth Centre network, underlined the important role Growth Centres play in helping Australia transition into a smart, high value and export focused economy.

Through building capability and stronger industry systems through a collaborative, industry-led process –an Australian economy is created that ensures Australia’s ongoing prosperity.
