Nine of Western Australia’s most promising mining and energy resources innovators are taking part in a national scale-up program to accelerate their technology into national and global supply chains. RISE is underway in both Brisbane and Perth.
The WA-based companies will join eight fellow regional- and metropolitan-based organisations from across Australia as part of the Resources Innovators Scale-ups and Entrepreneurs (RISE) Program.
The 12-week intensive initiative is an industry collaboration between NERA and METS Ignited Industry Growth Centres, with funding and support from Queensland and Western Australian Governments and delivery partner KPMG.
NERA looks forward to supporting the participants ahead of their graduation in May. Through this support, RISE provides participants with deep-dive workshops, mentoring and support from industry leaders, entrepreneurs and subject matter experts.
NERA Chief Executive Miranda Taylor said RISE is about accelerating and supporting the best of Australian industry and assisting priority industry sectors find innovative solutions, strengthen engagement with the local scale-up ecosystem and equip innovative scale-ups with the skills to accelerate to new heights.
“As the Industry Growth Centre for Australia’s energy resources sector, we recognise that innovation is key to sustainable productivity growth and that small scale-ups often have great ideas but find it difficult to scale. The RISE accelerator provides a platform for raising awareness of scale-ups in the domestic marketplace and set up capabilities to then access global supply chains,” Ms Taylor said.
RISE builds on a 2017 pilot program and, through support from NERA and the Western Australian Government, will this year deliver an expanded sector focus, providing business growth opportunities to mining and energy resources suppliers.
Initiatives like RISE strengthen Western Australia as a hub for mining and energy resources innovation and help deliver value and jobs to the State by enhancing the competitive advantage of local industry.
