Building capacity and capability in the NT oil and gas sector

16 July 2017

NERA (National Energy Resources Australia) has partnered with the Northern Territory government to undertake an analysis of the territory’s current and future education and skills development requirements within the oil and gas industry.

The study will identify opportunities for the Northern Territory government to develop a capable and agile workforce to meet the demands of an evolving industry, with several major oil and gas projects now in their operations and maintenance phase. In doing so, the study can play a role in supporting the Northern Territory government’s economic development framework.

Part of the study will be to identify future opportunities in working with some of the territory’s closest neighbours in places such as Timor Leste, Papua New Guinea and other parts of South-East Asia.

NERA and the Northern Territory government will make equal contributions to the study, with the final report expected to be delivered late 2017.
